About Us
WattGuardz and Van Bitz have reunited, bringing the Van Bitz name back to its founding family.
A new home, a fresh banner, and the same experts you’ve always known and trusted.
My journey with motorhomes began in the late 1980s, traveling across Europe with my parents and brothers. Those trips were the highlight of my childhood and ignited a lifelong passion for motorhomes and the freedom they bring.
In the early 1990s, my parents, Eddie and Lyn Jones, took a bold step and founded what would become a highly respected business: Van Bitz. From as far back as I can remember, my brothers and I were involved, sweeping floors, sorting screws, or filing paperwork. My parents believed in keeping us engaged, and those early lessons shaped my work ethic and curiosity.
At 13, I officially began working at Van Bitz after school, during weekends and holidays. By 16, I joined full-time and spent the next eight years immersed in the business. Eager to expand my knowledge of the vehicles themselves, I later took a sales role at Chelston Motorhomes. Over three invaluable years, I gained fresh insight into customer needs while selling what I often called “The Dream.”
In 2012, I returned to Van Bitz with a new perspective. I dedicated myself to learning every detail of the operation, which gave me a true appreciation of what it takes to run a successful company. To me, success has never been just about sales, it’s about aftersales. A happy, satisfied customer is the cornerstone of any good business, and the most powerful measure of success comes from great feedback, referrals, and repeat clients.
For my last four years at Van Bitz, I had the privilege of leading the team with that philosophy at its heart. When the business was sold in December 2022, I played a key role in the transition. It was an incredible chapter, but I knew it was time to begin the next one. Inspired by the achievements of my brothers, who went on to found Andrew James Motorhomes and Select Motorhomes, I launched WattGuardz: a new venture built on passion, quality, and trust, alongside loyal friends who shared the same vision.
And now, the story has come full circle. In June 2025, WattGuardz acquired the Van Bitz name. With access to the original installation worksheets and electronic records, our ability to support previous Van Bitz customers has grown stronger than ever.
Van Bitz isn’t just a brand, it’s part of my family’s legacy. Founded by my parents and trusted for over 30 years, Van Bitz became the benchmark for high-end vehicle security across the UK. Bringing it back under the family banner at WattGuardz isn’t just a business decision, it’s a moment of pride, continuity, and renewed purpose.
By integrating Van Bitz into WattGuardz, we’re combining decades of heritage, craftsmanship, and customer trust with the innovation, scale, and vision that WattGuardz represents today.
For more than three decades, Van Bitz led the way in specialist vehicle protection. Its Strikeback alarm systems became an industry benchmark. As part of WattGuardz, that legacy is refreshed and reenergised, ensuring even greater reach, smarter protection solutions, and faster innovation.
This isn’t just an acquisition, it’s a reunion. A trusted brand has returned to its roots, while WattGuardz gains a powerful legacy to build upon. Together, we’re redefining what safety, reliability, and innovation look like in today’s vehicle security landscape.
